Wedding of the Year

I apologize in advance for the extreme delay of this posting but I still wanted to talk about it, of course I am referring to the Royal Wedding. I previously gave a general background on William and Kate but now since the wedding has been a huge buzz for the last month, I figured I would sum it all up.

The Wedding took place at Westminster Abby, one of the most famous locations in London and possibly all of England. Princess Diana previously was wed their so this location is very special to the royal family. Looking past all of the traditional dress of the English guests, I would like to take note to the decor in the church. In most weddings that many of us have been to or seen on television and in magazines, we notice a traditional array of flowers decorating the church or wedding location. But in this special wedding there were tall maple trees that lined the aisles. Kate wanted to portray the feeling of a "living avenue" for the guests to follow to their seats. She was also being very eco-friendly with this decorating decision because the trees can be replanted after the ceremony.  (Clever idea for the eco-friendly brides out there!)

Now of course the best part of this event was indeed the fabulous Alexander McQueen dressed designed by Sarah Burton. Traditionally in English customs, the brides must have a dress with sleeves. Although this is not the most popular look for the modern brides of today, the royalty of England was not going to break this tradition. I think that Kate picked an amazing designer for this dress since she added a little modern twist to the elegant stye. Lace sleeves is a MUST if you were to add sleeves to a dress. It shows a little skin while still offering traditional coverage.

Pippa Middleton, the gorgeous Maid-Of-Honor, also wore a Sarah Burton designed dress to mirror the Bride. In most traditional weddings that we see and hear about, the bride should be the only one wearing white. But I think if the Maid-Of-Honor and the bridal party wore white to compliment the bride's gown then I think it is perfectly fine and no-one would outshine the bride anyway!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue. Well Kate certainly followed these Wedding 101 rules! Something Old: The Dress style. We have seen this dress style on Kate's predecessors who were royal brides. The traditional long sleeve gown worn by Princess Grace and Princess Diana. Something New: Kate's parents granted her with Robinson Pelham earrings which evokes the new Middleton coast of arms with diamond oak leaves and acorns which she wore with her gown. Something Borrowed: Queen Elizabeth lent her Cartier Halo tiara which she received on her 18th birthday. Something Blue: Simply a blue ribbon stitched in the lining of her dress!

I hope all you brides-to-be enjoyed this little royal wedding segment, (although very delayed). Good luck planning YOUR royal weddings! :)

The Royal Wedding

So we are just one day away to ooo-ing and ahhh-ing at the Royal Wedding where William and Kate are soon to be wed! Since I will be at work (sadly) I will be missing it so thank god for DVR! I wanted to share some fun facts that I read on People.com and personal interviews with the perfect couple!

First of all, Kate and William met while studying at St. Andrews, and started off as close friends. Kate was awed by the prince and was actually shy at first to even get introduced to him! They started off living together as friends with other roommates and soon their love blossomed. He even admitted attempting to cook for her to impress her!

Once they started officially dating they took many vacations and were first spotted expressing some "PDA" on the Swiss Alps in Zermatt where it was confirmed that the prince had a new love. Since the couple are such world travelers, especially to Africa, William proposed to Kate in Kenya and presented to her his mother's (Princess Diana's) engagment ring which is a beautiful sapphire bordered by diamonds. In an exclusive interview, William was asked if he asked her father for his daughter's hand in marriage before the proposal. He said "I didn't want to ask him first in case he said no" and he laughed. But i'm sure the Middleton family was anything but disappointed in this proposal.

So one question I'm sure everyone is curious about.. Will this new princess bride mirror her soon to be  mother-in-law (may she rest in peace)? I believe so! Princess Diana wore a good luck charm horsehoe on her wedding dress, and I'm sure Kate will do the same since it has such great symbolizm.

William is still picking out the perfect tiara for his bride-to-be and it will be revealed on the special day!

I am very excited to see this wedding (recorded of course) over the weekend and share with everyone the wonders of this royal occasion.

More updates to come about the dress, tiara, flowers, location, etc!

Nicole Miller

This season Nicole Miller has some amazing styles for her bridal line. If you are not a huge fan of the ball gown look, Nicole Miller (or at least similar styles) is the look for you!

Sleek, elegant and fashionable. It is more modern wear but still will look gorgeous strutting down the aisle. I suggest this look to go with a wedding that may take place outside such as the beach or backyard. Wind can interfere with a flowy dress, since these dresses fit close to the body, it will move with you!

i feel a change in the air

okay! since I haven' been on in awhile I have done a lot of thinking and I'm officially going to change this blog completely around. I figured why not throw a little curve ball into the mix and maybe get noticed?? Some may not really even enjoy this turn around but I am really hoping a lot more will love it, especially the ladies! Now what is the one thing that every woman just dreams about growing up? Thats right! A fabulous wedding! One to share with "the one" who you picture doing everything together. But nothing would make this love complete without the one day that completely changes your life (for the better of course!) I am a HUGE wedding fanatic and I hope that one day I will be working with brides and grooms to be to make their day the most memorable day of their lives. So my blog is going to transform into wedding central, showing off all the new looks and themes of the perfect wedding in season and hopefully throw some amazing ideas out there. I have a creative mind especially when it comes to planning wonderful events such as weddings. So stay tuned for the transformation and trust me you will not be disappointed!

fireflies//forza d'amino

i don't really have much to say at all except that it was a really rough week. in this post i am sending my love out to the zirilli family, especially by best friend mary (a.k.a. PIC) no words can describe what has happened but they know that my (and all of our friends) love is with them every single day. this is a really hard to write about so i'm keeping it discrete for family and friends to understand only. there are 2 things i would like to share that i dedicated to the zirilli family, one is a quote, and one is a song. it's hard to really explain how this song made me feel but i will share a quote from the song that i think is perfect. the song is Fireflies by Owl City:

Fireflies- Owl City

"to ten million fireflies
i'm weird because i hate goodbyes
i got misty eyes as they said farewell

but i'll know where several are
if my dreams get real bizarre
'cause i saved a few and keep them in a jar"

the quote i will share is in italian and it is actually tattooed on my friend steph's back. forza d'amino. it means strength and spirit. i think this is what mary and her family need right now and her loving friends and family are here to support her<3

cherish every day and every one in your life and know that they will love you forever :)

why does life have to get in the way of me blogging?? come on! anyways work was pretty hectic all week. did get to party with some 2011 sports illustrated swimsuit models so thats a plus! i had a lovely 3 day weekend and i just can't wait for this coming weekend to of course just have off again. keeping this post short and sweet because i want to relax for the few hours i have left in this weekend. i will post my song of the day though but i'm going to call it my song of the week since i have been thinking about posting it since last tuesday! it is called Saltwater Room by Owl City. the lyrics portray such a cute love story that of course touched me in a certain way to relate back to my own love story. so please do enjoy:

Saltwater Room- Owl City

"Time together is just never quite enough
When you and I are alone, I’ve never felt so at home "

will you be my valentine?

i just had such an amazing weekend with my man. he is wonderful. we had a little weekend getaway at a lovely local hotel (king bed woop woop!) and had a delicious dinner and lots of champagne and wine :) we did make some "friends" at the hotel bar which was quite entertaining. one couple was just out of their minds. asked a lot of personal questions and were kinda crazy but i mean hey they were cool and entertaining at the same time. then there was another couple that were more on my and dave's level (we had fun talking to them). guy was a marine and girl who was very nice and complimentary towards me which always brightens up my day! and of course dave and i had our alone time to complete the night ;).

today we watched the social network finally and it was such a great movie. Mark Zuckerberg is so inspirational. he just created the biggest social network in the world and it just boggles my mind how he just knows so much about computers and the internet. he inspires me to just start my own business. i would love to just create my own business and make my own money off of my work. i have ideas but i'm not in any place financially right now to just pick up and begin but i hope that one day (soon) i can!

now for my song of the day! figured i would go a little romantic and a little dramatic for this "holiday" weekend. so i am picking a song from one of my favorite artists Christina Aguilera. Her song "Bound to You" is beautiful and the lyrics are amazing and every time i hear this song i get the chills. it is from the movie "Burlesque" which is definitely a great movie if you are a Christina fan because if really takes you into her old fashioned burlesque style that she portrayed in her "Back to Basics" album. so just listen and enjoy. the song is very dramatic and anyone can interpret it in their own way but from my perspective, i see it as a girl who has had it rough in the past with love and finally found a man she ca trust even though she is scared to love. she also knows that this love is true and says that she doesn't want anything to go wrong. she used to be "bound in chains" but is now bound to him but in a positive way as in to never let go of her one true love.

Bound to You- Christina Aguilera

"sweet love, sweet love
trapped in your love
i've opened up, unsure i can trust
my heart and i were buried in dust
free me, free us

you're all i need when i'm holding you tight
if you leave i will suffer tonight

i found a man i can trust
and boy i believe in us
i am terrified to love for the first time
can you see that i'm bound in chains
i finally found my way
i am bound to you"

i hope that was enjoyable for all to hear and i hope everyone has a great valetines day and if you do not have a special guy or girl in your life then tell the people you care about that you love them and make them your special valentine!
